So today I got up early and went with my husband to the post office. Waiting there, I found the lovely UK copies of Hell Fire. Big happiness there. We then went to Home Depot, where we bought paint for redoing the back garden wall. The creamy color will make the small courtyard seem brighter and bigger (at least that’s the plan.) I really should have taken a before picture, but you’ll have to be content with the after, once it’s finished.

I also got a new rug for the guest room, which was once my office. It’s a lovely rug. I like it a great deal. The cats have clawed the carpet in there to bits, and it can’t be removed too easily due to bookshelves. Said lovely rug has only been down for like two hours.

I have a man in the backyard painting and the housekeeper going about her business. She starts scooping the cat box, but she leaves the poop where the dog can get at it…

and dogs love cat poop. There’s a reason we keep it cordoned off. (I bet you can see where this is going.) So the dog runs off with the cat treats and TAKES THEM TO MY NEW RUG. The housekeeper is like, “Hey, the dog’s on your new rug.” SHE TELLS ME. I go look. And then -I- get to clean it up!

You may have won this time, dog, and forced me to scrub my brand new rug, on day one, but your time will come. Mark my words.
